Legacy Open Mesh: What Does the "Cannot Resolve Default Dashboard Host Name via DNS" Error Mean?

Question

What does the "Cannot resolve default dashboard host name via DNS: firmware-ng will use the fallback IP instead" error mean?

Environment

  • CloudTrax

Answer

This error is usually a sign that there's a problem with the local DNS settings that are preventing the nodes from getting a timely response resolving Cloudtrax.com. This can be caused by high traffic on the network or just a temporary error with your local DNS settings. If the network is functioning normally the error can usually be disregarded and it will go away in a short time.

If the error persists or clients are having trouble resolving DNS the problem can usually be resolved by adding an alternate DNS server on the Advanced tab in Cloudtrax. Some popular public DNS services are Google DNS at 8.8.8.8 or OpenDNS at 208.67.222.222.
